The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states-including yours-that have come together to develop high-quality student assessments aligned with the new Common Core State Standards in English language arts/literacy and mathematics. These computer delivered assessments will replace previous state tests in those subjects.
During the 2014-2015 school year, students in Grades 3 through 11 will take the new computer-based PARCC state assessments. These online assessments include tools built into the computer platform for all students and a number of accessibility features that can be provided for individual students based on need. These tools and features-which children typically use in the classroom and daily life-are intended to expand access for them to show what they know and are able to do.
In addition, the PARCC assessments include accommodations that students with disabilities, English learners and English learners with disabilities may need. These will reduce barriers for students and help them participate equitably in the assessments.
